Sacramento, CA—The Environmental Consumer announced today the release of an online tool to allow consumers to rapidly draft and send letters to companies to inform them that they either did not or will not buy the company's product due to poor environmental practices. The tool, located at http://www.enviroconsumer.com/tell, aims to bring down the communications barrier between consumers and companies by reducing the time required to express dissatisfaction with a product.
"The easiest way to communicate to companies has always been buying or not buying their product, but that leaves companies guessing what the consumer wants and unable to make informed decisions based on consumer feedback," Nick Santos, Project Lead for The Environmental Consumer said. "The solution, whether calling or writing to the company, often requires too much time for consumers to complete, so it doesn't happen. This tool restores the ability of consumers to engage in a two way conversation."
The tool walks the user through the drafting of the letter by asking the user quick questions. The letter is either then sent automatically or the user is provided with all the information to send a letter, depending on their preference.
The tool currently supports sending letters to 36 companies, including Wal-Mart, Trader Joe's, Nestle, and Costco, with many more on the way. "Naturally, we're receptive to user feedback and we're hoping that users will tell us what companies they most want to communicate with," Santos said.
The Environmental Consumer aims to help create a healthier, more sustainable planet by providing consumers with the necessary information to lead environmentally-integrated lifestyles and advocate for sustainable business and individual practices.
